Saying no to plastics

What we are doing

No to plastic

Underworks has made reducing plastic our top priority.  We have removed plastic from our consumer-facing products and have replaced our plastic hooks with cardboard hooks.

APCO

Underworks has been a member of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation since 2022. The Australian Recycling Label is a labelling scheme that helps customers recycle correctly.

Soy Ink

The majority of our packaging is printed with Soy Ink, which is a plant based ink made from soy beans. Soybean ink contains less harmful substances than petroleum-based inks.

FSC

Underworks uses FSC mix paper for all packaging, and our cardboard hooks. What is FSC-Certified Paper? The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certifies that the paper is made of responsibly sourced wood fibre.

Warehouse Recycling

Underworks is working closely with our commercial waste collections provider (Premier Waste) and one of their partner organisations (APR Plastics) to maximise the recovery and circularity of our clear soft plastics to create innovative new products.

Recycling soft plastic in this way not only keeps valuable resources out of landfill, and out of our oceans, but it also lessens the need to mine fossil fuels for new material.

All the cardboard boxes are reused and boxes that are too damaged are recycled via our waste collection provider.

Head Office Recycling

We recycle everything from office paper, pens, highlighters, markers, and batteries. We have FOGO bins (food organics/Garden organics) to recycle our food scraps. Recyclable plastic, aluminium, and glass bottles are also recycled.
